Kimberly has always had a generous heart and she always helps me out. I wish she could have done it last year with me but her hair wasn’t long enough…I’m glad she’s doing it this year! I was so surprised that we got 47 hair donations and  raised $5558.12 for the Canadian Cancer Society! and Kimberly is going to add to it! Thanks sis!

I am so excited! My hair is getting in my way and I can’t wait to cut it! I had wanted to donate my hair last year but it wasn’t long enough. I prefer to have short hair but I kept growing it so I could donate it. Will you join me?

Last year, my little sister Catherine did something pretty special: she cut off her hair. I know, you’re thinking “what’s so special about that?” Well, she did it as part of a hair donation and fundraising campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society, and she collected 47 ponytails and raised over $5000!!!

Last year I wanted to donate my hair but it wasn’t long enough, so this year, I’m taking over! I’m going to cut my hair  I would like to beat her total–I mean help her get more ponytails and raise even more money for a good cause. The ponytails will go to make wigs for those who have lost their hair because of cancer treatments, and the money will help fund the search for a cure.

 Catherine often plays dress up with her 3 year old sister (who had to be cropped out of the picture due to the ridiculous face she was making!).

Catherine really enjoyed the peacefulness of the beach in Vancouver last summer. What a great holiday that was!

The weather was really good while we were there too.

She didn’t catch anything (her big sister did) but they both enjoyed themselves immensely. Thanks to our friends who had us over for the weekend.

Catherine has saved her allowance and given to CHEO (Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario), bought gifts for Toy Mountain (the gifts go to underprivileged children for Christmas) and helped support The Shelter for Abused Women and Children. As her mom I want to support her in these kinds of efforts. Her big sister has given donations as well but this is the first time we have undertaken a fundraiser.

Catherine is always willing to help those who are suffering, who have had some bad luck or who are in need. In her short life, she has already had people close to her fight cancer. Thankfully most of the stories have had happy endings. She was very supportive of her grandmother when she underwent radiation and went to a few of her appointments with her and her dad.  She was only 4 when this happened and didn’t completely understand what was going on, only that Granny was sick. Her grandmother is completely cured and we are so happy. The wigs will help those in their battle to have a bit more dignity and self confidence so they can fight harder. Now we’re hoping to have more happy endings for other families and with the funds raised we’ll help find a cure so that no one ever loses a loved one to cancer again!
